Description

A blend of jewellery making and initial enterprise skills for anyone considering working towards a small jewellery business. Learn core techniques such as sawing, soldering, forming, texturing and polishing to create simple jewellery. Introduction to materials, pricing and marketing strategies working towards selling your creations. Learners already completed a previous term will progress learning new skills. You will practice in copper before moving onto silver and/or mixed materials.

Who is this course for?
You could be a beginner or someone who wants to develop your jewellery skills further. You may even be thinking about exhibiting and selling your work. Our courses are for people who live in Derbyshire aged 19 and over. Please ask about fees if you live in a different authority.

How will I learn?
This is a classroom-based course. A friendly workshop environment with practical activities with guidance from your tutor. A mix of demonstrations and individual work.

What will I need?
Please bring glasses for close work, and a notebook and pen, although some handouts will be given.

Are there any other costs?
There is a charge of £10 for an initial starter pack which you will need to pay your tutor at first class (cash). If you wish to work in silver your tutor will advise.

After this course you can progress onto a further course that is suitable for you. You may wish to join a course to learn about running your own business.
