Description

Art journaling can be a really supportive part of your recovery journey. It gives you a safe, creative space to express yourself, explore your feelings, and take a moment to breathe. It's something you can come back to each day to slow down, stay grounded, and build positive routines that support your well being. Even on tougher days, it can be a gentle reminder that you're moving forward.
In this course, you'll try out new techniques, build on what you already know, and enjoy experimenting with your creativity in a relaxed, judgment free space. It's all about giving yourself a healthy, hopeful outlet—somewhere you can unwind, reflect, and celebrate the progress you're making. You'll leave with practical ideas and creative tools you can use anytime you want calm, clarity, or a little boost of confidence on your journey.
When you take part in a Brightside course, you will also complete a learner progress record, recording new skills, any questions you may have and how you feel about your learning journey.

Who is this course for? This course is for you if you are creative or would like to be able to express yourself through art. It is also for those who feel they need to improve their well-being by learning some mindfulness through art expression. Our courses are for people who live in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire aged 19 and over.

How will I learn? This is a classroom-based course. The tutor will guide you and prompt you with practical activities, different themes, explanations, examples and demonstrations. You will work individually but as part of a small group and the skills and techniques you learn will enable you to continue to work on your art journalling at home. Your tutor will give you support and feedback so you know what to do to improve.

What will I need? The tutor will supply all resources but you may want to bring some of your own resources too example brushes
