Description

Art journaling is used as a way of developing art skills whilst working on your well-being and can be used daily as a part of your self-care practice. This course will teach you new skills and develop existing ones, giving you an opportunity to harness your creativity in a way which is relaxing and cathartic. Brightside courses are free and are for anyone experiencing mental health difficulties. Brightside courses might help you gain confidence and improve your self-esteem. When you take part in a Brightside course, you will also complete a learning journal, recording new skills, any questions you may have and how you feel about your learning journey.
This course is for you if you are creative or would like to be able to express yourself through art. It is also for those who feel they need to improve their well-being by learning some mindfulness through art expression. This course will support you to build your confidence and self esteem so that you feel ready to take on new challenges as appropriate for you. Our courses are for people who live in Derbyshire aged 19 and over.
This is a classroom-based course and is progressive, with one course of six sessions per half term. Each course will help to develop your skills and build on existing skills and will use a range of art mediums. The tutor will guide you and prompt you with practical activities, different themes, explanations, examples and demonstrations. You will work individually but as part of a small group and will be able to continue to work on your art journaling at home. Your tutor will give you support and feedback so you know what to do to improve.
The tutor will supply all resources but you may want to bring some of your own resources too, if you have them, eg. scissors, paints, brushes, pens, pencils and different patterned papers.
